Custom FDM 3D printing
Affordable printing from engineering plastics for prototypes and functional parts alike.
FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) builds a part by depositing molten plastic layer by layer. It is the most versatile and most cost-effective 3D printing technology — ideal for prototypes, covers, fixtures, as well as functional and spare parts. Thanks to a wide range of engineering plastics, we can tailor the part to mechanical loads, heat resistance and appearance.
Materials
PLA
A rigid, dimensionally stable material for concept models and visual prototypes.
PETG
Tough and moisture-resistant — a good compromise between strength and price.
ABS / ASA
Higher heat and mechanical resistance; ASA additionally withstands UV and weather.
Nylon (PA)
Strong, wear-resistant functional parts, gears and sliding elements.
TPU (flex)
A flexible material for seals, damping and bendable parts.
Typical applications
- Functional prototypes and proof of concept
- Covers, enclosures and housings for electronics
- Production jigs, holders and templates
- Custom spare parts
- Small batches of simpler parts
Frequently asked questions
Which material should I choose for a functional part?
For common functional parts we recommend PETG or ABS/ASA, and nylon for stressed, wear-resistant parts. We are happy to advise based on what the part needs to handle.
Are FDM parts strong enough?
Yes — with the right material, orientation and infill they are suitable for real functional use. Strength depends slightly on the direction of the layers, which we take into account during manufacturing.
Can the surface of an FDM part be smoothed?
Yes, we offer additional finishing — sanding, painting and, for selected materials, chemical smoothing.
