- Design
- 5 parts, 2 of them interchangeable
A customer asked us to mount a Parkside battery directly on the shaft of a brush cutter made by a different manufacturer. Because this combines two incompatible systems, there was no ready-made solution on the market.
We designed the whole holder parametrically in CAD to match the exact dimensions of the battery. From the start we made the design modular, so it can be used on different shaft diameters. The adapter therefore consists of 5 separate parts. The three parts that hold the battery itself always stay the same. The remaining two parts are interchangeable and can be modified and printed again at any time, depending on the diameter or type of tool the customer wants to mount the adapter on in the future.
In the first phase we printed several prototypes in PLA to verify the accuracy of the battery lock and the ergonomics. After fine-tuning the dimensions, we made the final product from high-temperature PETG HT100 in silver. As a result, the holder copes without problems with mechanical stress, the vibration of the brush cutter and high temperatures when working in direct sunlight.
The customer was extremely happy with the result and with how well our work functions. The project once again confirmed that custom 3D design and additive manufacturing can easily connect equipment that could not otherwise be combined.
